Coping with Life Transitions
Specifically focused on helping individuals manage significant life changes using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) interventions. This program is designed to guide participants through the emotional and cognitive challenges that accompany transitions such as career shifts, relocation, or the ending of relationships. Utilizing core ACT principles such as acceptance, mindfulness, and value-guided actions, this program aims to help individuals develop psychological flexibility, effectively cope with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, and commit to actions that align with their personal values. This group offers a safe and supportive space to constructively address life transitions while empowering participants to live more fulfilling lives even in the face of uncertainty. Student Resiliency and Flourishing
Specifically designed to empower students with the necessary tools to navigate life’s challenges and optimize their well-being. Drawing from the science of positive psychology, this group program offers a holistic approach to fostering resilience, enhancing emotional intelligence, and promoting a flourishing life. Students will engage in experiential activities, reflective discussions, and practical exercises to cultivate strengths, positive mindsets, and effective coping strategies. Trauma for First Responders (Cognitive Processing Therapy)
This group is designed especially for first responders and healthcare professionals grappling with the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), acute stress disorder, or symptoms of trauma. Rooted in the evidence-based principles of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), this group aims to provide a supportive and confidential environment for participants to process traumatic experiences. The group will include skill-building exercises, cognitive reframing techniques, and shared dialogues to foster positive well-being and flourishing. By focusing on the unique challenges faced by those on the front lines of emergency care and medical services, this program equips participants with the tools they need to reclaim control over their lives and their careers. Mindful Moments
Aiming to equip participants with the skills needed to cultivate mindfulness, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. This program draws on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques and pulls from Jon Kabat-Zinn’s seminal book, ‘Wherever You Go, There You Are’. Through a combination of meditation practices, guided reflections, and group discussions, participants will learn to navigate life’s challenges with a greater sense of calm and awareness. Coping with a Changing World: Managing Anxiety and Working from Home
Suitable for students who want support in adjusting to the impact of the pandemic on their lives including the transition of working from home. We will be discussing strategies for managing anxiety and being productive while working remotely. (Facilitator Jodi Basch)
DBT Skills Group for Emotional Regulation
Appropriate for individuals struggling with extreme emotional sensitivity. Using DBT skills, learn how to manage negative and overwhelming emotions, while increasing positive experiences. The goals of this group will be to better understand your emotions, to reduce emotional vulnerability and to decrease emotional suffering. (Various Facilitators)
DBT Skills Group for Distress Tolerance
Appropriate for those needing to learn how to manage distress in a healthy way. These set of skills are helpful for situations where an individual may not have control of a situation but needs to manage their responses. DBT skills will help individuals to cope and survive crisis situations, whilst also helping with physical and emotional pain. Skills include mindfulness, radical acceptance, self-soothing with senses and distraction. (Various Facilitators)
